Chicago 1930 is a real-time tactical game that catapults you into the time of Prohibition, when the battle between the G Men and the Mafia was at its height.
Chicago 1930 impresses with very detailed and varying backdrops varying from dark courtyards and dubious speakeasies to the monumental buildings of large towns. The game play is embedded in the gangster atmosphere and chic of the Thirties. All you have to do is persuade the leadership of the city to your way of thinking but watch out for drive-by ambushes!.
You get to choose between playing the Mafia or the police. This decision influences the game play crucially: with the police it is your job to clear up crimes, protect VIPs from crooks and gang-busting!. You have to track down and interrogate witnesses and collect evidence. It often comes down to a spectacular showdown, when the criminals are hunted down at last and defend themselves with baseball bats, shotguns as well as the legendary Tommy-gun.
You have to respond to a totally different challenge in the Mafia campaign: where you not only take on the police, but also competing gangs. Your tactics need to encompass the destruction of superior gangs by force, defeating the police, as well as silencing witnesses and intimidating the civilian population who may not always agree with your 'business methods'.
